Afytos
On the spot where the town lies there has been a settlement since the year 3.000 B.C. Afytos was so important that it had its own coin and contributed with warships to the wars that Xerxes waged.
At the second half of the 19th century it developed its characteristic buliding style, which is seen in the houses of the village. Most houses are made of stone and show the zeal of the builders.
